Cup 202

photoToday’s Cup 202 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. It was a bit of a surprise for me and a couple of unsuspecting patrons queued up in my rear-view. As the barista handed over my soy latte and attempted to ring up the coffee for the driver behind me, she smiled and said: “I guess you’re off the hook on this one!” My expression must of made my confusion clear as she then said: “Something happened with the order, and it didn’t ring up accurately, just go on through–it’s ok…or you could get the driver behind them?” I jumped at the chance and laughed a bit, joking: “You can’t throw me off my plan, after all, when I come to the drive-thru, I have to get someone’s coffee!” It all worked out as it should. So here’s to another day down in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. And, the bonus, it’s Snowman Cookie time…’Tis the Season!

Cup 201

coffee cupToday’s Cup 201 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. As I pulled into the busy drive-thru, I notice 3 teachers from my school. I thought it would be the perfect surprise, to buy each of the ladies’ cup of kindness from the drive-thru. As I placed my order via the speaker, I also explained that I wanted to buy the coffees for the ladies at the counter–in the store. This was only possible due to the expansive wall of windows  between the drive-thru and coffee shop. I thought I was so sneaky! Unfortunately, two of the three ladies were to too quick, and I only caught one of the orders. I continued on and followed the original plan and purchased the coffee for the unsuspecting driver behind me as well. Once we all arrived at school, we enjoyed a round of thanks and a couple of laughs. It was the best cup of coffee those two never received!

All in fun and all in the spirit of a cup of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until next time.

Cup 200

coffee cupToday’s Cup 200 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. It was a simple pass of the drive-thru, and a $5.00 cup of goodwill for the unsuspecting patron behind me. I’m not sure what the driver of the grey sedan actually ordered, but I hope it made his/her day. It was another day down in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Kindness. Until next time.

Cup 199

Today’s Cup 199 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. As I queued up into the drive-thru line, I noticed about seven other cars and drivers, all eagerly merging toward early morning espresso Nirvana. As the barista handed over my hot soy latte, I made sure she rang up the $7.50 transaction for the unsuspecting patron in my rear-view.  It was over in a jiffy,  yet I hope that driver behind me held on the kindness all  throughout the morning. So here’s to another day in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until next time.

Cup 198

coffee cupToday’s Cup 198 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. In the dark, stormy early hours of my Saturday morning, on the way to a day’s worth of college classes, I drove to the local coffee shop. The cute barista {Cup 43} warmly greeted me and called me a trendsetter. Yes, me! She said: “You know, you’ve really started a trend here at our store, it seems everyone is now paying for others’ coffee!” I just had to grab my hot soy latte and drive off with smile. Yes, my smile lasted all the way until I arrived at my college campus. Then reality hit…I had to snap-to and get serious about thinking about this doctoral research project that consumes most of my personal time these days. This thinking and learning sure takes a lot of caffeine, tenacity and then some. But no complaints when I have such a joyful story to hold throughout the day.

Since no one queued up in the drive-thru behind me, I left a $5.00 gift card for the day’s unsuspecting patron. The barista happily assured me that she’d follow through with the mission to pay it forward.  So, here’s to another day down in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until next time, and until that next trendsetting shot of kindness.
