Today’s Cup 196 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. I was promptly greeted by the barista, whom I’ll now refer to a Mama_Bear Barista, as she is the parent of a very sweet youngster as referenced in Cup 195. As I fumbled my iPhone and somehow wedged it tightly between my car seat and the little seat adjuster doodad, she jokingly yelled out: “Hey lady, you’re making a scene!” I laughed, because I was making a scene having to get out of the car (in the drive-thru!) while trying not to get stuck between the drive-thru window and my car door, all while reaching my (way too short) arms under the car seat to get my Starbucks money (aka: the iPhone). It was a scene.
As I retrieved the phone and then happily grabbed my coffee, I reminded Mama_Bear Barista that I was paying for the unsuspecting patron behind me. She paused and said: “Hmmm, I’m not sure how you want to do this.” I guess it was one of those big orders, about $15 and change. I reassured her that it’s what I do. It’s part of the daily project. It’s my blog thing, I explained. She thanked me and asked how to find my blog. It was just another day in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until next time, and until that next shot of kindness.
