Cup 183

Today’s Cup 183 was purchased at Starbucks, zip code 97071. Instead of going to the drive-thru, I made my way into the store since I needed to purchase some gift cards as well. I noticed a woman in the line behind me and I asked if I could please purchase her cup of coffee. She quickly beamed and replied: “But I order an expensive $4.00 coffee!” I smiled and said, “No worries, I drink $4 coffees, too!” She was very grateful and thanked me profusely. She also paid attention as the barista wrote my coffee name, Francis, on the cup. After paying, grabbing my goods, and heading out the door, the unsuspecting patron yelled out: “Thank you Francis, have a great day.” I waved and happily headed out the door. But as I did, I thought, is Francis just a big ol’ liar? After all, I’m gathering a new circle of cohorts that have never, ever learned my real name. It makes me smile all the same. After, all, it’s in the spirit of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. And, everybody needs a coffee name. Or two.
