Today’s Cup 179 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. It was one of those days when a big rig appeared in my rear-view and waited with a rumble. It was one of those huge diesel trucks that used to be a farm implement from the days of my youth, but are often popular driving machines for many nowadays–off the farm, and on the road. The truck was so loud that the driver had to silence the engine just to order. As my little Volkswagen hummed right through the ordering queue, I just chuckled…only because I can’t imagine driving a vehicle that makes me work so hard to maneuver–for coffee, gas, passenger comfort or the like.
The barista happily rang up the $2.25 and handed over my latte as well. I hope that driver enjoyed his daily cup of goodwill, and I hope it saved him a few bucks, which I’m sure he needs for the gas station. So here’s to another day in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until next time.
