Today’s Cup 153 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97071. The drive-thru was busy, no surprise, with a gray and rainy summer morning. Not a complete surprise in the Pacific Northwest, but just one of many excuses for a latte.
As I paid for my espresso, I made note of a Honda SUV in my rear-view. I noticed a passenger and others. I wasn’t sure how many others, but there was movement in the car–a sure sign that the tab can run up quickly. When this happens I always try to mentally guesstimate the tab. Quite simply, after one hundred and fifty-three days, there are still surprises, sometimes. It’s not a problem, but rather, a 365 Cups of Kindness blogging by-product. I affectionately refer to it as by-product only because I’ve engaged in such a quirky and unpredictable project, for a year! In this case, today’s total was just $4.83. Not as much as it could have been, for sure.
It made me wonder if I could have gotten a laugh from the driver had I jumped out of the car and shouted: “You should have thrown in a sandwich or two for the kids, since it was free!” But nonetheless, it’s another day down, and another gift in the spirit of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until next time.
