Today’s Cup 102 was purchased at Starbucks, zip code 97303. The $3.25 cup of kindness went out to the driver of a weirdly colored BMW sedan in my rear-view. Upon managing the iPhone app and a blueberry scone, the barista and I fumbled the hand-off. The scone dropped to the ground, as in the grubby asphalt ground. I quickly opened up the car door and salvaged the pastry, and felt confident that the treat was still edible; as it remained intact in the paper bag. As the barista apologetically handed over a second scone, wanting to throw away the slip, I assured her it was fine. The idea of food waste really rankles the former Peace Corps Volunteer in me, but I thanked the barista for her kindness nonetheless. It just chocked it up to one of those weird little two-minute moments that make for entertaining blog fodder.
So here’s to another day in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope, dropped scone and all. Until tomorrow.
