Today’s Cup 97 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97303. The $6.20 double order went out to folks in a sporty red Jeep Wrangler. It was the type of vehicle I would drive if I needed big tires and was willing to forfeit the pursuit of reputable fuel economy.
As the barista rang up my soy latte, he inquired about my day and shared with me that today was his last day at the store. He mentioned he’s moving to Portland. I made an irreverent, yet loving, wise-crack about Portland which made him laugh. I do love Portland. I love that Portlanders wear the weirdness badge proudly. It’s so Pacific Northwest. So urban Oregon. Like hand-sewn reusable shopping bags, vegan dog biscuits, and VooDoo Donuts. It’s what we do…just like paying it forward. So here’s to another northwest gift of goodwill, in the spirit of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. May you be blessed with a gorgeous place to live and a double shot of kindness in your heart. Until tomorrow.
