Today’s Cup 89 was purchased at Starbucks, zip code 97303…but with a twist. Unlike other days, when I give a cup of kindness to a stranger, today’s cup bounced back to me! For real. It was a surprise gift of goodwill that came my way during a busy morning in my principal world.
It happened simply enough, as an administrative colleague of mine showed up to the building unannounced. She found me in the school’s computer lab with teachers and students–and greeted me with a big hello and a smile. I took one look at her and joked about my envy over her fresh cup of hot coffee. I made a remark about being way too tired, and needing some caffeine. She just smiled and asked if we could go to my office. We made our way to the principal think tank, and it was there I found my surprise. My colleague cracked a big smile and said “Ha! Today’s Cup of Kindness is for you!” It made my day, for sure.
As I quickly perked up, I thanked her profusely and then enjoyed her retell of the day’s transaction. She explained how she passed by my regular Starbucks and asked the Cup 32 Snowman Barista for help by saying: “Hey, you know the coffee blog lady, can you tell me what she drinks?” The friendly Snowman Barista set her up with a perfect selection. It was awesome. So, here’s to another day. Although a tad unusual, it was another example of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope--all of which bounced right back into my world. Cheers. Until tomorrow.
