Today’s Cup 79 was transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97303. As the barista handed over my soy latte, I asked her to ring up the patron behind me. It was a humongous order, for one lucky coffee fan, totaling over $13.00. The barista was a bit intrigued over my willingness to pay, and we talked about how sometimes an act of kindness triggers a chain reaction in the drive-thru line. We both agreed that it’s pretty darn cool when that happens. I then explained my daily blog project and her eyes lit up as she asked: “Where can I find your blog?” I happily shared the address and told her she would be among good company with many of her Starbucks colleagues–as a daily coffee blog rock star.
As I drove off, I felt that feeling of simple satisfaction. Once again, I was reminded how much fun it is to buy a stranger’s coffee, as well as enjoy the banter among the lively baristas, each of whom add to the fun of each day’s transaction. So here’s to another round of drinks, with a hefty serving of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope.
