Today’s transaction was swiftly transacted at Starbucks, zip code 97303. In addition to my soy latte, I wound up buying a pound of coffee beans, a $5.00 gift card, and the $8.00 order for the unsuspecting patron in my rear-view. The barista was more than happy to ring up the daily purchases and additionally help me figure out the daily special which included the gift card, gratis. All this coffee hoopla led me to the new strategy to compensate for those empty coffee gifting days when no one shows up in the drive-thru behind me. I’ve now decided to keep a stash of these gift cards in my purse so that I can still leave a gift behind when I swing into the drive-thru.
As I drove off, sipping my latte, I had to laugh about the obvious. It’s funny now, and even a tad embarrassing to think it’s taken 68 days for me to figure out the gift card solution to fulfill my daily gift of coffee goodwill. But, despite that, there’s plenty to be had, and all in good time. After all, there’s still two hundred and ninety-seven days left in the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope. Until tomorrow, and let’s hope those gift cards stay in my purse…because it’s so much more fun to transact the cup-o-kindness in the moment, for sure.
