Today’s cup of kindness was attempted at Starbucks, zip code 97303. No one queued up behind me so I continued on with my order as usual. I was a little disappointed there wasn’t an unsuspecting patron in my rear-view, just waiting to be the surprise recipient of a free cup of goodwill. Total bummer.
As the barista rang up my order I held on to a last bit of hope, but to no avail. I received my hot latte and pulled out of the drive-thru, with my window still rolled down. It was then I heard the barista talking to a patron ordering at the window. For a split second, I considered backing up toward the window, but then again, thought the better of it. As I’ve said before, there’s no room for heroic measures in the daily kindness project–nor is there room for a bonehead-move-fender-bender. I just drove off and cut my losses. Until tomorrow’s attempt at Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope.
