Cup 55

coffee cupToday’s cup of kindness was attempted at Starbucks, 97116. Unlike most days which result in a quick cup of coffee for a stranger, today’s attempt resulted in an impasse of sorts. As I approached today’s unsuspecting patron, an Army guy in fatigues,  I asked if I could buy his cup of coffee. His face quickly lit up and he said: “Hey, I do that too. I buy coffee for other people, I do that pay-it-forward thing too!” It was a moment. We had each met our match. We were each prepared to be the gifter,  and unprepared to be the giftee. With a quick wink and a nod, we communicated the gentle impasse. I grabbed that soy latte and went on my way. Though a few bucks richer, it was still another day toward the mission of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope.

So, Mr. Army guy, I wish you well. Although your coffee wasn’t free today, I know our county is, thanks to you.  As I raise my cup to you, I say This We’ll Defend... God bless and Godspeed.

The project only takes a few of minutes of my day, but there’s always a story…And, I never know what *moment* might happen! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

That is a wonderful moment! And if you ever have an impasse again, you might want to try the Cup of Joe program from Green Beans. For $2 you can send a cup of coffee and a message to a deployed troop. In a combat zone, a cup of kindness is very welcome 🙂 Here’s the link if you’d like to check it out:
