Cup 47

Today’s Cup 47 was purchased at Starbucks, zip code 97303. It was a simple in-and-out pass of the drive-thru. There wasn’t anything too interesting or noteworthy about the $4.59 coffee order for the black SUV in my rear-view. The barista, one of the drive-thru regulars, was  friendly, efficient, and more than happy to ring up the day’s caffeinated cup of goodwill. So here’s to another day. And here’s to another simple cup of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope.

Nothing interesting in that $4.59 coffee order? Methinks you are wrong there! That person probably woke up late and groggy after a night of grading papers or something. Then they went on to work, say at a school, and entered the building with a spring in their step, greeting students and parents with a cheerful, slightly giddy, “Good mornin’!” Then they tell all their coworkers about the most fabulous person in front of them at Starbucks! Parents smile and greet them back, kids start their day with a positive greeting, and the teachers? They begin work with their faith in humanity restored. Nothing interesting indeed!
