Today’s cup of kindness was purchased at Starbucks, zip code 97303. It was a quick drive-thru run as I was hankering for a Vanilla Rooibos Tea. My passenger requested a Skinny Peppermint Mocha, no whip. Easy enough.
As the barista rung up the orders, there was a bit of bumbling behind the counter. I heard the code for oops, we accidentally made a latte instead of a brewed tea. I quickly reassured the barista I would gladly drink the tea latte, as I cannot stand the thought of waste. And besides, it’s a drink I enjoy. No harm, no foul, right?
The barista was kind enough, and equally appreciative that I paid for the $2.20 coffee order for the patron behind me. Although it was just a couple of bucks saved, perhaps it might go toward that much needed auto-body work on the back flanks of that tired sedan. And, Mister barista-at-the-counter, thanks for the free coffee coupon. Even though you called it a mistake, it’s all good. I enjoyed my drink, and hope Mister gray dented sedan enjoyed his as well.
So here’s to another cup of kindness, and let’s raise our cups for this blessed last day of Christmas. Tomorrow, let’s feast for Epiphany and sip yet another cup of coffee. In the spirit of Fully Caffeinated Generosity and Hope, of course.
